CSU Home > Residence Life > Why Live on Campus Why Live On Campus
When living in Residence Life you are within walking distance from everything you need on campus, from classes to the student center, where there are a variety of places to eat and socialize. Friends and Socializing Living on campus will allow you to meet people that will become life-long friends. Also, you will be given the opportunity to become involved in several on campus housing organizations and leadership positions. Better Grades There have been several studies that have proven that students who live on campus do better academically than their counterparts who live off campus. Students who live on campus are more apt to take advantage of the academic help available to them. Pay Less Living in on campus is very economical. Services such as Internet access, telephone, cable and utilities are included. Housing fees are paid once each semester, so there is no worry about forgetting to pay a bill. Leadership Opportunities The Residence Housing Association, the National Residence Hall Honorary and Resident Assistants plan activities for the residents. Becoming active in these organizations open the opportunity for leadership positions. Safety Columbus State University maintains a full-time, fully certified Police Department. Officers patrol 24 hours a day, seven days a week including semester breaks and vacation periods. Also, night security patrol the Courtyards on the weekends. Security call boxes are located throughout each Courtyard for added protection.
